Mysterious structure on Earth visible from Outer Space


Formation of a copper color in West Africa dominates a stunning photographs taken by astronauts from the International Space Station (ISS).

Dutch astronaut, Andre Kuipers, take pictures, known as Richat structure in Mauritania, while the space station flew over the Sahara Desert in West Africa's Atlantic coast.
Erosion of the various layers of rock to create a similar area wide rings that form the structure. Even so, according to geologists, the origins remain mysterious Richat structure.



Photos taken Kuipers showed a unique vantage point of space. Space station, where Kuiper was, hovering around 386 kilometers above Earth's surface. According to the European Space Agency, the picture was taken on March 7, using a Nikon D2Xs.

For months to fill the post on the International Space Station, the astronauts are doing for Earth observation science and public outreach.

Throughout their mission, the astronauts are active in social media, such as Twitter or Google + to share the amazing views from space.

Currently there are six astronauts on the ISS, Kuipers namely, Dan Burbank, and Don Pettit from the U.S., and Russian cosmonaut, Anton Shkaplerov, Anatoly Ivanishin, and Oleg Kononenko. Burbank was commander-30 mission to the ISS.

Kuipers slid into the space station in December 2011. He served there for six months. Kuipers, Kononenko, and Pettit are scheduled to return to Earth on July 1, 2012
